Every 2026 MLB Fourth of July Jersey, and the One 'Anti-American' Team Sitting It Out

ColorWay Sports·

2026 is America's 250th birthday, the Semiquincentennial, and Major League Baseball is marking it with a leaguewide USA 250 set for the Fourth of July weekend. Nearly every club is in, one shared design language and dozens of different takes on red, white, and blue. There is exactly one holdout, the Toronto Blue Jays, and we are going to be a little rude about it below before we admit they get a pass.

The common thread runs across every jersey. The player's name and number on the back are filled with the Stars and Stripes, an American flag treatment poured straight into the lettering, and a USA 250 commemorative patch rides on the sleeve. From there, each team builds the look on its own base, and that is where the personalities come out. Here is the full breakdown, our favorites, the one that misses, and every set in one place.

The Shared Design: Flag-Filled Numbers and a USA 250 Patch

Before we get to the standouts, it helps to know what every team has in common. The 2026 USA 250 Fourth of July jerseys all share two signature elements. First, the back nameplate and the uniform numbers are filled with an American flag, stars in the canton and red-and-white stripes running through the digits, instead of a flat team color. Second, a USA 250 patch, the same semiquincentennial shield the NFL and NBA have been wearing, sits on the sleeve. We have a full breakdown of that patch and why it is showing up across MLB, the NBA Finals, and the NFL Super Bowl.

The base of each jersey is the team's own. Most clubs run their home white or road gray with the flag lettering added. A handful go further. That mix is what makes a 30-team set worth scrolling through instead of one design copied 30 times.

Our Favorites

Our favorite of the entire league is the Pittsburgh Pirates road gray. It is the cleanest execution of the whole idea. The black-and-gold "Pittsburgh" script is already one of the best wordmarks in baseball, and against a plain gray the flag-filled numbers pop without fighting anything else on the jersey. Nothing is overdone. The gray lets the lettering be the star, and the gold piping ties it together. It is the one that caught our eye first and held it.

The San Diego Padres are right behind, and theirs is the boldest swing in the collection. Instead of white or gray, the Padres run a sand alternate with brown pinstripes and gold trim, and the flag treatment inside the brown-and-gold look really pops. It is unmistakably San Diego and unmistakably Fourth of July at the same time, which is a hard balance to strike. If you want the set's showpiece, this is it.

And the Los Angeles Dodgers look, simply, amazing. The Dodgers keep it on the home white, and the combination of that crisp script and the flag numbers is about as clean as the holiday gets. It is restrained where San Diego is loud, and both work.

Wearing Color on the Road: Brewers and Rays

Two teams break the road-gray pattern, and it is worth pointing out. In this Fourth of July collection, the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays did not get a gray road version. Their USA 250 road look is a colored jersey instead, powder blue for Milwaukee and navy for Tampa Bay. So when those two are on the road for the holiday in this set, they are in color while everyone else around the league is in gray.

It is a small quirk, but it gives both teams a more distinctive Fourth of July look almost by accident. The Brewers' powder blue with flag numbers is genuinely sharp, and the Rays' navy carries the flag treatment better than a gray would.

The One That Misses: Minnesota

Our least favorite is the Minnesota Twins. The problem is not the execution, it is the contrast, or the lack of it. The Twins already lean on navy and red every single day, so dropping a red-white-and-blue treatment onto their look barely changes anything. The flag numbers get swallowed by a uniform that already reads patriotic, and the special set ends up blending into the everyday one. It is the rare case where a team's normal colors work against the holiday jersey instead of for it.

So, Are the Toronto Blue Jays Just Anti-American?

We are going to ask the rude question out loud. Every other team in baseball wrapped itself in the Stars and Stripes for America's 250th birthday. The Toronto Blue Jays said no thanks. The lone holdout, the one club refusing to wear the USA 250 Fourth of July jersey. Awfully anti-American of them, right?

Right. Except for the small matter of geography. The Blue Jays are the only MLB team based outside the United States, and asking a Canadian club to play dress-up in a head-to-toe American flag on American Independence Day was never realistic. So they keep their regular uniform on the Fourth. Not anti-American, just not American, which is a very different thing.

And they are not sitting out completely. Toronto still wears the USA 250 cap, a clean red-and-white version of their logo trimmed in gold with the USA 250 patch and red-white-and-blue striping, which you can see in our Fourth of July hats roundup. The hat, yes. The fully Americanized jersey, hard pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 2026 MLB Fourth of July jerseys?

They are a leaguewide USA 250 uniform set worn for the Independence Day weekend in 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Every team except the Toronto Blue Jays wears one. Each jersey carries an American flag treatment inside the back nameplate and uniform numbers, plus a USA 250 commemorative patch on the sleeve, built on top of the team's own home, road, or alternate base.

Why do the numbers have an American flag on them?

The flag fill is the signature design element of the 2026 USA 250 Fourth of July set. Instead of a flat team color, the back name and numbers are filled with the Stars and Stripes, stars in the canton and red-and-white stripes through the lettering, so the patriotic theme reads clearly from across the ballpark while the front of the jersey stays recognizably the team's own.

Do the MLB Fourth of July jerseys have the USA 250 patch?

Yes. Every 2026 MLB Fourth of July jersey wears the USA 250 semiquincentennial patch on the sleeve. It is the same commemorative patch the NFL wore across the 2025-26 season into Super Bowl LX and the NBA put on its 2026 Finals jerseys. We have a full breakdown of the shared USA 250 patch across all three leagues.

Why are the Brewers and Rays wearing colored jerseys instead of gray?

In this Fourth of July collection, the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays did not get a gray road version. Their USA 250 road look is a colored jersey instead, powder blue for Milwaukee and navy for Tampa Bay. So on the holiday road games in this set, those two teams are in color while the rest of the league wears gray.

Are the Toronto Blue Jays wearing a Fourth of July jersey?

No. The Blue Jays are the only MLB team without a USA 250 Fourth of July jersey. As the league's lone club based outside the United States, Toronto wears its regular uniform on the Fourth rather than an Americanized one. The Jays still take part through the cap, a red-and-white version of their logo trimmed in gold with the USA 250 patch and red-white-and-blue striping, so the hat carries the commemoration while the jersey stays normal.

Which 2026 MLB Fourth of July jersey is the best?

Our favorite is the Pittsburgh Pirates road gray. The black-and-gold "Pittsburgh" script paired with the flag-filled numbers against a clean gray is the sharpest execution in the set. The San Diego Padres sand alternate is the boldest, and the Los Angeles Dodgers home white is the most classic. Our least favorite is the Minnesota Twins, whose everyday navy and red already read patriotic, so the special set does not stand out from their normal look.

When do MLB teams wear the Fourth of July jerseys?

The USA 250 sets are worn around the Independence Day holiday weekend in 2026, on and around July 4. Exact game dates vary by each team's schedule, but the jerseys are tied to the Fourth of July weekend rather than worn all season.
